Case IH was formed in 1985 when the Case Corporation of Racine, Wisconsin, snapped up its long-time rival, International Harvester. The two companies had been at odds since the breakup of International Harvester in 1982.

Case IH became a leader in the heavy-duty tractor market and eventually diversified into other areas, such as agricultural harvesting machinery. Today, Case IH is the most recognized brand in the farm equipment industry and sells products to farmers worldwide.
