Custom Hats -For custom patch/hat combos, we offer a 50% refund on orders that are returned to us in new condition. Once the patch is sewn onto a hat, we can no longer reuse the hat and although we could technically remove the patch and reuse it, each time you sew a patch it inevitably causes some amount of damage that we wouldn't want to pass on to a different customer.
Pre-made Hats -For pre-made hats (when available), we do accept returns or exchanges. Just Contact Us and we'll get you setup. We offer full refunds as long as the hat is still in new condition when it gets back to us.
We offer a lifetime warranty for our patch sewing. If for any reason our sewing fails and your patch starts to fall off, we'll re-sew it and ship it back to you free of charge!
We know it's no fun waiting for your new hat so we work extremely hard to ship out as fast as possible. Our limit is 48 hours from the time of your order, and for most orders we sew & ship within 24 hours.
Actual shipping time normally takes between 2-5 business days. You'll receive the USPS tracking # as soon as your order is shipped.
If for some reason we're experiencing delays, we'll provide that information to you before you make your order.
We always use a cardboard crown protector inside the cap, a poly bag to seal the hat from moisture, and a custom sized cardboard box to protect your hat from getting crushed during shipping.
Hat damage during shipping is extremely rare, but if it does happen we'll be happy to replace the hat free of charge.
Our hats are always shipped with USPS first class or priority mail.
Currently we only ship within the United States. We're hoping to expand to internation shipping in the future.
Currently, every patch is sewn in-house by Josh VonFeldt, the owner of Pickwicks, using one of our industrial sewing machines. We want every hat to be perfect, and personally sewing each hat is the only way we've found to guarantee the quality our customers expect.
Since most patches come with an iron-on backing, you'll find many
In recent years, there's been an influx of sellers using a heat press to adhere patches to hats and selling them for a lower cost.
Can it work? Yes, occasionally, but in our opinion it's not a good idea.
Why is it a problem? Each iron-on backing is different and each hat surface is different. There's no guarantee that a patch will adhere well no matter how good your heat press is. This means that your patch might start peeling off at any time, especially if you wear the hat often.
After sewing on a patch using high quality thread and an industrial sewing machine, you can be confident that the patch will stay on for decades, even with heavy use.
There's two reason for this...
Cost -The post bed industrial sewing machines we use are $3500 each so it's understandable why many people don't want to go down this road, but we don't believe this is the main reason...
It's really, really difficult -Using a sewing machine doesn't look that hard. You put your foot on the pedal and it goes, right?Unfortunately, no.
First of all, the machines are complex, finicky, and you better know how to fix it yourself because support is almost non-existent since the machines you need for patches don't come from major manufacturers.
Secondly, sewing a patch onto a hat is an art that takes hundreds or thousands of hours to perfect. You'd think that you can just buzz around a patch in 30 seconds but that's not the case. Each stitch takes your full concentration and we spend at least 10 minutes with each hat to make it perfect. Please don't ask how many hats we've ruined in the process :)
Currently we only offer patches already sewn onto the hat of your choice. This policy may change in the future.
Sorry, we don't have the ability to produce custom patches.
We find our patches from antique stores, thrift shops, flea markets, eBay, cold calling, and a variety of other methods. Because of the time it takes to add new products to the site, we normally focus on larger lots of patches with multiples of each patch.
We've found that accurately dating patches is a difficult process that often causes confusion. We never want to misrepresent a product we sell so we've moved away from offering high priced rare patches, and we no longer try to guarantee a patch is "collectible" or from any certain era.
We know which qualities go into an authentic patch and we also research each patch design to make sure any logos or designs fit into the "vintage" category for those companies.
Anytime we stock a patch, work goes into photographing and adding it as a product on our site. Therefore, we put an emphasis on finding patches that match the patches we've already sold in the past.
When a patch has sold out, you'll see an e-mail signup form on the product page that will send you an e-mail notification as soon as that patch is available again.

Please contact us and let us know what you're looking for.
We'd love to have a much larger selection, but because of supply chain issues, the hats just aren't currently available. We're hoping that will ease up in the future so we can get back to carrying hundreds of blank hat options.
Of course! We only purchase through authorized distributors for each brand and we guarantee that each hat is new and first quality.
